Once again, we're fast approaching Advent season: Christmas time. And, true to form, the American advertising industry once again will exploit the "Peace on Earth"/"Prince of Peace"/"Babe in the Manger" theme. What's it all about, really; this idea of Jesus as the "Prince of Peace"? Who can deny that since His birth the world has become even more violent? So what did the Hebrew prophet Isaiah mean when he spoke of a child to be born one day called "Prince of Peace"? Christians believe that to be Jesus, while the teaching of the Synagogue has consistently been "That's impossible", and they point to the Church's violent post-biblical history to substantiate that claim. This Thursday we explore this theme of "peace with God" from several angles: what the Synagogue's position has been, what Islam's position is, what much of the organized Church's position has been, and what Scripture says. Tune in and take notes! Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, each Thursday at 9:30-10:30 pm EST.
